Cailey Murphy
Principal

Cailey Murphy is a communications and government relations professional with more than a decade of experience in strategic communications and political affairs. As the Principal and Founder of NNW Communications, Cailey leads the firm’s project management and business development, working with various not-for-profit, private and public sector clients.

Prior starting NNW Communications, Cailey was the Managing Director, Western Canada, for a public affairs firm based in Toronto. Previously, Cailey was the Director of Communications and External Affairs for the Mining Association of British Columbia. She formerly held the communications portfolio at the British Columbia Hotel Association as the Director of Communications and Government Relations. 

Cailey has additionally held various communications and stakeholder outreach positions with the Government of Canada and the BC Provincial Government.  She has a Master’s Degree in Political Science from Queen’s University and a Bachelor’s degree from Simon Fraser University.

Kit Sauder
Strategy and Operations Director

Kit Sauder is a communications and government relations professional with a breadth of experience in multiple sectors, he has previously worked with a number of startups in indigenous relations, capital management, and diversity and inclusion practices. As Director of Strategy and Operations at NNW Communications, Kit supports the operations of the NNW Communications team, and advises our clients on strategy, as well as government and public relations.

Kit served the Province of British Columbia as a political staffer between 2013 and 2017 in the Ministers' Offices of Education, Energy & Mines, Indigenous Relations & Reconciliation, Transportation & Infrastructure, and Emergency Preparedness. Kit has advised and acted as a strategist for political campaigns throughout British Columbia at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels.

Kit holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of British Columbia.

Marisa Chandler
Content Director and Lead Storyteller

Marisa Chandler is a digital content specialist, developing and driving brand identity through digital storytelling. She leads content strategy at NNW Communications.

Marisa has specialised in digital content and communication over the last ten years, starting with print publications and private online media, and eventually widening her reach to include non-profit, provincial and federal government projects.

Previous to joining the NNW team, she was a member of the Canada 150 Federal Secretariat Marketing team, a special event branch of the Department of Canadian Heritage. At Canada 150 she developed social and web content for widespread national outreach, preparing for the country’s once-in-a-lifetime celebration of the 150th anniversary of Confederation.

Marisa holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Classical Studies from the University of British Columbia and studied Journalism at Langara College.

Laura Kinder
Art Director and Lead Designer

Laura Kinder is a creative professional specializing in graphic design for marketing and communications, with a focus on branding and identity systems. She creates striking visual content destined for both print and web, and is equally comfortable crafting a bold large-scale image or a complex multipage document.

Laura has over twelve years of experience working in the industry, and knows how to work with teams large and small to take a project from initial spark to brilliant conclusion.

She is an accomplished illustrator, letterer and type designer. Past clients include UBC, Vancouver Magazine, AME BC, CTEM, Greystone Books, Tapestry Foundation for Providence Health Care, Douglas & McIntyre, Unilever, Mount St. Joseph Hospital, Women in Mining, Granville Island Brewing, BCPLSA, West Coast Mining Ltd., PDO Solutions, the Alzheimers Society of BC and the Mining Association of BC.

Laura has a degree in Communication Design from Emily Carr University, as well as a BA from Queen’s University and an MA from the University of Toronto.

Kalyx Aquino
Communications Specialist

Kalyx Aquino is a recent graduate from Simon Fraser University and the newest member of the NNW Communications team. With experience in creating social media content, boosting public engagement through social media, and administrative work, her role at NNW Communications consists of assisting on both strategic communications and project management.

Kalyx's active involvement in various student-led initiatives as well as political campaigns have equipped her with the skills needed to assist in project management, event planning, and communications.

Kalyx holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and World Literature from Simon Fraser University. 

Blair Phelps
Policy

Blair Phelps is a senior communications and public affairs professional with more than a decade of experience working with the Government of British Columbia. For the past four years, Blair provided strategic communications advice to various Ministers in the BC government, as a Communications Director with Government Communications and Public Engagement. He oversaw a number of significant government initiatives, including the Premier’s 2013 trade mission to Asia, the historical wrongs apology and, most recently, lead the Province’s communications and media logistics for the 2016 Royal Tour to British Columbia.

During his tenure, Blair served the Ministry Agriculture, International Trade, Technology, Innovation and Citizens’ Services, and the Intergovernmental Relations Secretariat.

Prior to becoming a Communications Director, Blair served as the Director of Research with the BC Government caucus. 

Blair has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Simon Fraser University and extensive experience in public policy, research, and strategic communications.
